Help me understand this

September 20, 2008

I had breakfast with a friend and his girlfriend this morning. After that, I decided to stop by their apartment to check out his new iMac PC with 24″ display. I swear its the coolest thing I ever saw. I was so green with envy.

While busy showing me his new toy, we suddenly heard the blood-curdling scream of a woman. It came from a unit upstairs. A toddler’s bawling quickly followed. The scream was so sharp the hair on my hand stood on end. Then there were more muffled screams, sounds of a commotion, more screaming from the toddler. It went on for a good 10 minutes.

I’ve heard mothers scream when a kid spills stuff but this one was truly blood-curdling. It sounded like someone had stumbled on a dead body or something.

So apparently, this woman has 3 kids, between 1 and 4 years old. She cannot handle the stress of raising them. For the last one year, the wild screaming had been going on for hours every day. The husband very seldoms shows up.

Whenever she cannot take it, she locks herself in the bedroom and cranks up her home theater to max volume to drown out her babies’ cries. Sometimes it happens after midnight, pissing off everyone at the block. From the sobbing and crying that follows the commotion, the woman seems to be going mental from the stress. I can imagine the hell those poor kids were going through.

I just don’t get it. If you can’t handle raising one kid, why have two, and three? For the good of mankind?

Did she not have a choice? I’m sure the husband has something to answer to but it still takes 2 hands to clap doesn’t it?

I’m sorry but I don’t understand people sometimes.

    maybe they were “accidents”?

    3 accidents in a row… can a couple be that unlucky? 🙂

Guys, please look at the bigger picture here.

We know. Just waiting for someone to enlighten us, hehe. 🙂

Maybe she and her family (in-laws, parents, sis, bro, cousins, etc etc) THOUGHT she can handle? 😛

I only pity those kids. =_=

Hmm… if they still hadn’t noticed she’s going cuckoo after 4 years, then maybe there’s something wrong with them, haha.

Takes two hands to clap. In the beginning, it was clapping in joy. Later, after honeymoon’s over, she found the man kept going AWOL. Perhaps she thought with kids around the guy would stay longer. But she was wrong. With no close family support, (she married him against their wishes, perhaps) no one to turn to, she takes it out on herself. Possibly he’s a married man too. No lack of money here. He pays the bills, but when the fun is over, it’s over…

That would explain a lot of things. Still, I’m wondering what the “bigger picture” might be when a couple creates a broken home.

Some people just cannot keep their pants and skirts on. =/ Oh there’s also the thing called contraceptives or another sedative called self control. Okay, now I’m being unrealistic but I’m only speaking the truth.

An hour of fun, a lifetime of pain? Maybe that’s the “big picture” that Tom Dick & Harry was alluding to.
