Movie Review: Eagle Eye

October 31, 2008

I actually went to the movies last weekend with my usual friends to catch this show but I won’t bother with long reviews cause you can read better ones at sites like this. I am going to rant instead.

If the idea of Eagle Eye was to blow up a bunch of people, then for heavens sake why not just launch one bad-ass missile and be done with it? I mean, why create all these intricacies and drama (kidnappings, evidence plants, car chases, exotic explosives, etc) for what turns out to be a simple hit job when all it needed was one Peacekeeper missile to get the job done? The crystal explosive was going to blow up the entire place anyway so it doesn’t matter what weapon you use.

That’s the trouble with watching movies with people like me. We like to stack it up against real-life logic (yeah yeah we never get the point that art is supposed to dramatize life, not imitate it). Moral of the story – don’t bring us to movies that make no sense, with the exeption of The Simpsons.

Back to Eagle Eye. For a devious Skynet-wannabe computer, Aria is not smart at all. Epic fail for a) for taking such a long convoluted road to accomplish such a simple task, b) for not having what techies call an automatic failover system. It guarantees the machine will continue to haunt you even after you’ve tossed it in the river.

Conclusion: I should have gone bowling.

Some movies are not supposed to make any sense. 😀

But Spongebob makes perfect sense to me… 🙂
