From A Distance

November 7, 2008

Lyrics from an old but beautiful song by Bette Midler

From a distance the world looks blue and green,
And the snow-capped mountains white.
From a distance the ocean meets the stream,
And the eagle takes to flight.

From a distance, there is harmony,
And it echoes through the land.
Its the voice of hope, its the voice of peace,
Its the voice of every man.

From a distance we all have enough,
And no one is in need.
And there are no guns, no bombs, and no disease,
No hungry mouths to feed.

From a distance we are instruments
Marching in a common band.
Playing songs of hope, playing songs of peace.
Theyre the songs of every man.
God is watching us. God is watching us.
God is watching us from a distance.

From a distance you look like my friend,
Even though we are at war.
From a distance I just cannot comprehend
What all this fighting is for.

From a distance there is harmony,
And it echoes through the land.
And its the hope of hopes, its the love of loves,
Its the heart of every man.

Its the hope of hopes, its the love of loves.
This is the song of every man.
And God is watching us, God is watching us,
God is watching us from a distance.
Oh, God is watching us, God is watching.
God is watching us from a distance.

Only, sometimes I just wonder why He’s only watching from a distance when all this madness is going on…

Haha, I wonder about that myself. And my answer will not make a lot of people happy if u know what I mean. 😀

Hes watching us all the time from the distance. It’s just that we are not sensitive enough to realize it or probably block by the society, situation or stressful lifestyle. Sometime the message is given thru your close friend, family members, relative, colleague, disasters, diseases, animals,………. etc. We have to know & perceive it correctly. Hes give us the free will to choose to walk the way of life. It would be nice if he’s tell us what to do. If he’s would to tell us what to do, then we will never grow up & learn our lessen. Because most of the disasters or problems in life its caused by human. Example melamine in the contain of milk & others animal food that had caused trouble to babies, human & animals. All these its to tell us that human have to be concience of people well-being, respecting life & not thinking of themselves only(profit making).

Sometimes God told us to do this(good things) & we don’t do it. So hes let us free. If you want to make mistake its your freedom & you know what result you will get after that. God is not somebody who controls us all the time. Again, it would be good if hes does some controlling, but Hes doesn’t do it. So we have to control ourselves, we have to know what’t good & what’s bad. Read the Bible, read the Buddha scriptures or any religion scriptures that you believe. All the tips in any religion scriptures tells us how to survive here, how to live well, how to go to Heaven afterwards…….etc.

Reminds me of a science project my friends and I did when we were kids. We had an ant farm, an aquarium of ants and we observed how they worked and built their nest. We had ideas of how to build a better nest but the ants wouldn’t listen. They took the long way instead of short cuts, fought with each other, etc. We didn’t want to intervene so we just let them have their own way. They did ok. So if there is a god watching us, I know how he or she must feel.
