Love and other disasters

March 15, 2009

A timid person is attracted to a dominant person.

An adventurous person is attracted to a homely person.

A quiet person is attracted to a talkative person.

Do you notice it?

A dominant person never hangs with another dominant person for long. A reserved person never hangs with another reserved person for long. If they somehow do stick together, one of them will automatically assume a ‘complementary’ role by becoming less dominant or less reserved.

Its almost as if people are wired to do a balancing act. The talker, craving an audience, will find a listener. Tom seeks Jerry. If he doesn’t, he probably won’t feel like he’s Tom.

Which leads to another theory I have. When a person falls in love, its not really about making the other person feel good. It’s about making themselves feel good. On the outside, the act of bringing roses to your girlfriend might look like you’re out to please her. Behind the scenes you bring her flowers because you want to see her smile. Why – because seeing her happy makes you happy. Your act makes yourself feel good.

So the secret of making someone fall head over heels? Make them feel good about themselves.

ps. I borrowed this post’s title from a movie πŸ™‚

Make them feel good about themselves. No wonder the ladies love guys who can talk well….esp those who can sweet talk and praise them πŸ˜›

Yeah. Salesmen learnt a long time ago that the secret to winning a deal is to invite a client for golf and then “lose” to him. πŸ™‚

And guess what, I know a sales guy who is so proud of his own golf skills….then he invited the clients over and beat them up badly.

Thus, he lost most of the deals πŸ˜›

Sounds like his boss didn’t teach him well… πŸ™‚
