My inverter aircon works!
Last month I agonized over what aircon to buy after the one in my bedroom went kaput. So I decided to go for an inverter model. Here are the official results.
Previous month’s electricity bill with non-inverter aircon: Rm 131.08
Last month’s electricity bill with inverter aircon: Rm 66.21
Both aircons were 1 hp.
The duration of use is the same: 10pm – 6am every night.
Days used a month: About 26 (I spend weekends in Singapore every other week).
The temperature setting is the same: 22 degrees C.
The difference: The inverter aircon cut my bill by 50% compared to the previous non-inverter.
The big deal? I live greener. Because I draw less energy from the grid, my energy producer burns a little less fuel, thereby reducing its carbon emissions on account of my lower consumption. That’s how its supposed to work in theory anyway.
I hope one day I can reach a point where I don’t need airconditioning to sleep. I still struggle with the hot nights here.
The new aircon I use is the Daikin FTKD25DVM inverter. Haha, no I’m not promoting it (its not even pretty to look at) but if you need to buy an aircon, think green and go for an inverter – any brand. I’m sure you’ll get to enjoy similar benefits.
Pretty happy I found a way to live environmentally friendlier, cooler and save some money in the process.
