Where an icon went before it died

May 3, 2009

Here’s how fast Pontiac ran in its heydays.

Smokey and the Bandit: Burt Reynolds used a black Pontiac Trans Am to outrun Sheriff Buford T. Justice.

Hooper: Reynolds used a red Trans Am to crash through burning buildings.

Knight Rider: The real star of the show was the Pontiac Trans Am, not David Hasselhoff. (Check that mullet, man! πŸ˜€ )

The Rockford Files: P.I. Rockford drove a Pontiac Firebird.

I confess these shows were kind of before my time but it still had a cult following in the US. πŸ™‚

But this one….

Transformers: Autobot Jazz disguises himself as a Pontiac Solstice but was killed by Megatron. I didn’t miss this show (could anyone have?)

Pontiac the brand finally got killed for real by something more powerful than Megatron – the recession. I wrote about it here.

Here’s a more detailed insight on where this American icon had been in its glory days.

Mmm…maybe the writer of Transformers movie predicted that? πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

Yeah, if there is one prediction that I want to come true, its that my car is really an autobot. But it never happened. πŸ˜€

but luckily la…since it could be a decepticons, and not autobots.

Maybe you didn’t push the right button. Try kicking your car in the rear and give it some 4-letter words. πŸ˜€
