I drank Michael Jackson yesterday

June 26, 2009

Yup, in this part of Asia Micheal Jackson is a drink made of soya bean milk and grass jelly or cincau as its locally known.

Take this….

GrassJellyBlocks

add soya bean milk to it and you get this yummy black-and-white concoction.

My American friends will have a hoot with this. Well maybe not ‘cuz we do have the Margarita, Dr. Pepper and other drinks named after people, although none as famous as the King of Pop.

Anyway it was a shock to wake up to the news of MJ’s passing this morning. He was only 50 but everyone could see the toll he was taking from the scandals and financial troubles surrounding him. I’m glad he finally gets a bit of peace.

It’s cool to know his name is immortalized this part of the world, by his music and a popular drink.

We grew up with MJ’s moonwalk + songs. And he played an important role in our life actually…a significant icon. So his passing is quite a big blow to people of our generation…and he’s so young.

Ah well, that shows how fragile life can be.

I bet it won’t be too long before rumors start about him being abducted by UFOs or he was sighted with Elvis somewhere in South America. Its a shame… even with all his money and fame he could not live past 50.

With his talent and success at such a young age, Michael seemed destined for greatness. He attained a level of fame and wealth. that most of us can only dream of. Yet, for someone who seemed to have everything a person could want, he seemed to be unhappy. And at the end of his days, he found himself hounded and chained by the bonds of debt, fearful of losing it all…

Most of us seek fame and wealth… and yet, I wonder, how many can truly enjoy the fruits of these baubles whilst still remaining sane?

RIP, Michael. May you find peace in death, that which eluded you in life.

Yeah, a big amen to that.

No wonder that place is so crowded everytime I drive by. I might just be tempted to try it. 😀

Sometimes i do wonder…is it the public who brings him down? the media…and all those rumors…and the greedy (or paranoid) people who sued him because of minor stuff until he went broke.

It seems that one of the guys who sued him confessed that it was all made up. I think there’ll be plenty of lawsuits in the days to come.

A cool drink for MJ drinks! Kinda sad that MJ is leaving. Same as Farrah Fawsette from Charlie’s Angels. It seem like the famous people always leave earlier eg Elvis Presley, Lady Diana …..

Perhaps the mesage there is, if you want to live long, avoid fame, haha. 😀
